Stunning Vintage Murano Art Glass Bird Figurine - Attributed to Formia Up for sale is a beautiful, hand-blown Murano art glass bird figurine attributed to the renowned Formia furnace (fornace Mian) of Venice, Italy. This piece features a vibrant and expertly executed Sommerso (submerged) color technique, showcasing a bright yellow body cleanly cased in clear glass, accented with rich red wings and deep blue tail feathers. The bird is beautifully posed horizontally, resting on Formia's signature clear, heavily textured, scalloped/ruffled circular glass base. Condition: Excellent vintage condition with the exception of an extremely faint fracture on the bird's lower right side near the base. Please view the photos.  Notice the masterful Sommerso technique for which Formia is well known with the beautiful colors encased, and how the yellow has interesting and subtle streaks of white. There is no paper label/sticker. There is the pontil mark, the scar from from the glassblower's rod at the bottom of the base. Measuring at approximately 5" long x 2.5" wide, and 3.5" tall, this bird is heavier than it appears due to the high-quality lead oxide content. It's simply beautiful at a sunny window and in any light! I've not found another bird design such as this online or in shops. Since Murano glass is free-sculpted / hand-blown, no two pieces are identical as it is. This was created as early as 1962. Condition: Used.
