Stratton started in 1860 making knitting needles. It wasn’t until the 1920s that they started making high-end cosmetic items to rival what was being made in France. This beautiful, gold-plated compact is in the Empress pattern and has an expertly enameled top that glows red when hit by light. There is no makeup or powder puff inside, but the original mirror is intact. The compact measures 3 3/8 inches wide by 1/2 inch thick when closed.
