Antique Chinese Late Qing Blue & White Birds Flowers Phoenix-Tail Vase 38cm Description A fine antique Chinese blue and white porcelain phoenix-tail vase, decorated with a continuous birds-and-flowers scene including peonies, waterfowl and birds in flight. The vase is especially notable for the quality of its hand-painted decoration. The birds are rendered with detailed plumage, while the flowers and foliage show carefully controlled cobalt washes and multiple tonal gradations. The blue ranges from deep saturated cobalt to softer pale tones, giving the composition a strong sense of depth and a painterly character. The overall form follows the classic Kangxi-style phoenix-tail vase (Fengweizun / 鳳尾尊) tradition, with a rounded body, tall slender neck, widely flaring mouth and raised foot. The underside is glazed and painted with a double blue circle, a feature associated with Qing dynasty blue-and-white porcelain traditions. Based on its form, painting style and decorative treatment, this vase is conservatively attributed to the Late Qing dynasty, circa late 19th century, in the Kangxi revival style.
