Vintage Benrus 17-Jewel Manual Wind Watch with Calendar Expansion Bracelet – Model BA4 Very interesting vintage Benrus men’s wristwatch featuring a rectangular case, subsidiary seconds dial, 17-jewel mechanical movement and an unusual calendar display incorporated directly into the expansion bracelet. The calendar has a removable clear cover and comes with the additional interchangeable calendar inserts shown in the photos, allowing the appropriate calendar layout to be placed in the bracelet display. BRACELET: Vintage Hong Kong expansion bracelet. This is a highly expandable/stretch-style bracelet with no traditional clasp, allowing it to comfortably accommodate a wide range of wrist sizes. Bracelet shows substantial age-related wear, scratches, discoloration and finish/plating loss. Please see close-up photographs. MECHANICAL CONDITION – PLEASE READ: The watch is NOT currently working. The crown pulls out and the hands can be turned/set. However, when the crown is pushed completely in, it does not wind the movement. No further mechanical testing has been performed. The watch is therefore being sold AS-IS, NON-WORKING, for repair, restoration, parts or collection. No guarantee of operation is made. COSMETIC CONDITION: This watch has significant vintage wear and patina. The dial/face has considerable spotting, discoloration and surface wear. The gold-tone finish has substantial wear/loss in areas, with much of the exterior now having a more silvery appearance. The main crystal has scratches and edge wear, but I do not see a major crack through the center. The smaller crystal/cover over the calendar also has scratches and age-related wear. The bracelet has noticeable finish loss, darkened areas, scratches and general wear throughout, all clearly photographed. The watch has not been cleaned or polished and is being sold in its found vintage condition. Despite its condition, this is a very interesting old Benrus with a 17-jewel movement, 10K rolled-gold-plate bezel and especially unusual calendar expansion bracelet with the additional calendar inserts still present.
