Gold fill on the other hand must be 1/20th 14k gold. it is bonded to a core metal (no nickel) and wears for years and years. If you can wear 14k gold, you can wear 14k gold fill. Unlike Sterling, it does not oxidize so stays bright gold. Since Sterling is a combination of fine silver and copper (.925), and copper is a dark metal that allows silver to oxidize and turn dark, I use Argentium Silver, still .925 but the copper is substituted with Argentium which is a white metal and oxidizes more slowly and lighter. It costs me a bit more but saves so much polishing time!
