This is an original antique German 1900s-1920s heavy cast iron Christmas tree stand brought from the Black Forest region by our grandfather that belonged to his parents. Lancaster County Treasures has been a family homestead since the early 1900s.     Everything that we sell has some ties to a family member from our grandparents’ time up to the present and has been used (or not used) within our celebrations and/or traditions.     We have made the decision to downsize our collectibles and offer family heirlooms for sale to start traditions with other families with the hope that they will bring as much joy to you as they have to us. This is an original antique German 1900s-1920s heavy cast iron Christmas tree stand brought from the Black Forest region by our grandfather that belonged to his parents.  It retains the flat brown & green paint (original, not retouched) and antique thumb screws in very good condition and considering the age of this piece is remarkable.  We treated it more of a display piece from our family history than actual use. It measures 10" in width, 5" height, and the tree opening is 2".  The tree trunk is the feature with a stair pathway leading through as if walking in a forest.  There is no damage, repairs or breaks to the cast iron and has never been "touched-up" to the original piece.  It does have paint flake loss but nothing substantial which demonstrates its age and character.  This is a beautiful piece of art/craftsmanship and has a good amount of weight.  I hope the photos do it justice; we decorated around the base with woodland animals during the holiday to highlight the forest theme!  From our family for over 100 years to your family for another century!
