Antique Wooden Double Sheave Block & Tackle Pulley – Nautical Maritime Rigging – Approx. 7” – 2 lb 5.6 oz Offered is a beautiful antique wooden double-sheave block and tackle pulley with heavy iron rigging hardware and wonderful original aged patina. This piece features two original rotating sheaves (pulleys) that still spin freely. The sheaves display a natural blue-green oxidation known as verdigris, which is commonly associated with aged copper-based metals such as bronze or brass. Bronze sheaves were historically used in higher-quality maritime rigging blocks due to their strength, durability, and resistance to corrosion in harsh marine environments. Material has not been tested. This style of wooden block and tackle was widely used during the Age of Sail throughout the 1800s and into the early 1900s.
