Original mid-19th century cased tintype portrait of an unidentified young boy who appears to have arrived for his photograph already deeply concerned about the proceedings. Neatly dressed in a dark jacket, white collar, and small necktie, he sits with his hands folded and looks directly toward the camera with the expression of a child who has been advised by counsel to answer no further questions. Just one small gentleman and what appears to be the full weight of the 19th century. The tintype remains housed in the bottom half of its original decorative case; the top cover is missing. It retains the ornate brass oval mat, preserver, and cover glass. The case exterior shows decorative detailing and an ornate brass clasp. Case measures approximately 3.25 x 3.75 inches. Likely dates to the mid-19th century, approximately 1860s. Antique condition with age-related wear, surface speckling and marks to the image, wear to the case, and the upper case cover missing.
