Many similar polished brass handbells of this style were manufactured in India or England for decorative and functional home or institutional use during the mid-to-late 20th century The round ball on top of this vintage brass hand bell serves a dual purpose: Ergonomic Grip: The sphere provides a comfortable visual and physical stop for your hand, preventing your fingers from slipping off the top of the handle when lifting and ringing the heavy metal bell. Aesthetic Balance: This structural element balances out the wide, flared skirt of the bell's bottom, a classic design choice frequently found in traditional school, dinner, and altar bells. Measurements are 7 1/2” tall & 3 1/2” wide at bottom. Top ball measures 1 1/4”. The only defect I see is a line of tiny flea bite dots along one the handle. See photos, please.  Condition: Used.
