Description Antique Stanley No. 36 Carpenter’s Caliper Rule manufactured by Stanley. This compact traditional carpenter’s measuring tool features a boxwood rule with brass edge binding, brass fittings and an integrated sliding caliper. The rule is marked “STANLEY No. 36.” The Stanley No. 36 was designed as a 6 inch two fold carpenter’s caliper rule. When folded, it forms a compact pocket sized measuring tool. The integrated caliper slides outward from the body for taking additional measurements. This example remains complete and functional. The folding joint operates properly and the sliding caliper extends and retracts as intended. The rule shows considerable authentic age and use, including surface wear, staining, scratches, discoloration, patina and fading to portions of the measurement markings and manufacturer lettering.
