It features a large, elongated turquoise stone with natural brown matrix, bezel-set in sterling silver. The setting includes a classic twisted rope border and a small, decorative silver bead accent. Unmarked Sterling.    Many vintage silver and turquoise rings are not marked for several practical and historical reasons. The most common cause is that the piece is  handmade  (such as Native American jewelry) where stamping a maker's mark or "925" was not a traditional practice.   Specific reasons why vintage rings lack these marks include: ·         Handmade Artistry:  Before the 1970s, many Southwestern Native American artisans did not stamp their work. They sold pieces for trade or directly to buyers who cared more about the craftsmanship and the stone than an artist's signature.  ·         No Legal Requirement:  In the past, there were no strict legal requirements to stamp the metal purity on handmade, artisan jewelry. ·         Resizing or Wear:  If a ring has been resized by a jeweler in the past, the original mark on the back of the band (the shank) may have been filed or polished away completely. ·         Import Rules:  Some pieces were imported from other countries where marking standards were different, or they may have only used removable tags that have since been lost.  ·         Older Mark Styles:  Instead of ".925" or "STERLING," some very old rings were simply stamped "Coin" or "Silver," while others were left blank.   Some photos may show jewelry riser or stand that does not included in the sale.
