It retains its wooden wedge, iron and distinctive curved rear tote. True barn finds! A wonderful pair of well-used antique wooden hand planes, offered together for display, collecting, parts or restoration. These old carpenter’s tools have an abundance of authentic workshop character, including worn wood surfaces, scratches, tool marks, darkened patina, old finish, oxidation and evidence of many years of use. They would make an appealing addition to a primitive tool collection, rustic workshop display, farmhouse shelf or woodworking-themed room. The larger plane measures approximately 16 inches long and appears to be a traditional wooden jack or fore plane. It retains its wooden wedge, iron and distinctive curved rear tote. The smaller plane measures approximately 10½ inches long and resembles a wooden smoothing plane. Its removable metal iron assembly bears a worn “Peugeot Frères Garantie” with the company’s historic lion emblem marking. The wooden plane body itself is unmarked, so its maker cannot be confirmed. Both have substantial age-related wear, including: * Heavy scratches, dents and tool marks * Worn, dry and discolored wood * Finish loss and dark staining * Surface rust and oxidation on the metal parts * Chips, cracks, splits and rough areas * Loose or ill-fitting components * Old repairs, alterations or replacement parts * Larger plane has especially heavy wear and deterioration around the throat, wedge and top surface * Smaller plane has worn and chipped wood around the opening and sole * Cutting edges have not been sharpened or tested The parts may not be original to one another, and completeness cannot be guaranteed.
