During the 1960s, the renowned French printer, Mourlot Freres, printed the series "Les Affiches de Toulouse-Lautrec" for collectors. They are reduced lithographic versions of Lautrec's most famous works. For sale is this wonderful, vintage,1967 print from Lautrec’s late 19 th century original poster series "Les Affiches de Toulouse-Lautrec.” The original poster was used in an ad campaign for “L’ Artisan Moderne,” a French line of luxury goods, including ceramics, jewelry, lampshades, and other objects of interior decoration. “Lautrec parodies 18th century art in the rococo style of the poster but has replaced the traditional doctor with the modern craftsman whose worker's smock, hammer, and tool kit are variants on medical accoutrements. The stock characters of surprised maid and lap dog reveal what he is about to fix, and the wallpaper pattern of curvilinear exclamation marks both punctuates the joke and burlesques Art Nouveau decoration" (San Diego Museum of Art) During the 1960s, the renowned French printer, Mourlot Freres, printed the series "Les Affiches de Toulouse-Lautrec" for collectors. They are reduced lithographic versions of Lautrec's most famous works. The 1967 date of this print in evidenced by “XII” appearing just off the image in the lower right corner. I recently removed the print from what I believe was its original frame and suggest that “XII” be displayed and visible when next re-framed, evidencing it as from the Freres edition. This print is 10.5” X 14.5” including the white border. The actual image (excluding “XII”) is closer to 9” X 13”. There is a flat crease in the margin to the left of the woman's elbow. It appears to be from the original manufacture and not from mis-handling. It was not visible when framed.  Will ship to lower 48 states only. Condition: Used. Category: Art › Art Prints.
