The seat is upholstered with beautiful burgundy fabric. The seat back is beautifully "carved" and there is nice carved designs on the legs and the front skirt. Is not a toy. There is no maker's mark on the bottom, but there is a gold "China" label underneath. This listing is for a lovely dark wood arm chair with upholstered seat. Arm chairs of this sort were also called "carver chairs."  The frame and legs are made of wood with a lovely dark wood stain (mahogany). The seat is upholstered with beautiful burgundy fabric. The seat back is beautifully "carved" and there is nice carved designs on the legs and the front skirt.  There is no maker's mark on the bottom, but there is a gold "China" label underneath. It is definitely a commercially made piece, probably Bespaq or similar brand, made in the 1980s or so. This chair would be perfect in almost any type of room or shop, and is appropriate across a wide range of time periods.
