Based on the materials, construction and styling, this piece appears consistent with late 1930s to 1940s jewelry. It is unsigned, and no maker attribution is being made. This spectacular vintage milk glass lariat necklace is all about drama, movement and unapologetic opulence. Measuring approximately 34” end to end, the necklace features multiple strands of solid opaque white glass beads in an assortment of shapes and textures, creating an elaborate statement piece with wonderful dimension. The construction is particularly beautiful, with deeply fluted melon-style glass beads, smooth rounds, molded floral elements and large teardrop dangles. Tiny textured and fluted gold-tone spacers, scalloped flower-form bead caps and sparkling clear rhinestone rondelles add just enough shimmer between the white glass. Each end finishes with three articulated glass drops, giving the necklace wonderful movement when worn. Based on the materials, construction and styling, this piece appears consistent with late 1930s to 1940s jewelry. It is unsigned, and no maker attribution is being made. The elaborate construction and materials are reminiscent of the richly detailed designer costume jewelry being produced during this period. This is a substantial, heavy glass necklace weighing in excess of 125 grams. Due to its length and configuration, obtaining an exact weight on my gram scale was difficult, but it is most definitely not a lightweight piece. The necklace has not been cleaned and has been stored for multiple years. I have intentionally left it in its found vintage condition and will leave any cleaning to the new owner at their discretion. Expect age-related patina and wear to the metal components and findings. Please review the photographs carefully for the best representation of condition. An absolutely fabulous piece for someone who loves vintage opulence—dramatic, romantic and wonderfully excessive, with the kind of presence that can completely make an outfit.
