Please come back often, as we are always buying more goodies to list on ebay.  This listing is for a gorgeous vintage/antique natural butterscotch, honey-colored, faceted amber beaded, 18.5 inch necklace, strung on sterling silver chain. The beads on this necklace are lovely and very old. The facets aren't as sharp as they once were due to age. They have a tumbled look now, but still obviously faceted. This amber is old, so there is some crazing on the surface of some of the beads but it appears to be limited to surface level. Also, because the beads are old and amber is a softer material, the years of wear and accumulated surface abrasions have clouded the clarity a tad, but the amber still looks gorgeous as it is high quality amber, with gorgeous color and clear quality, which shows when light is shown through it. The shine might improve slightly with cleaning with warm water, gentle, and a soft cloth, but I leave this to the new owner. I personally don't think it is needed, as imo the beads are perfectly lovely as is. Some of the beads have a teeny bit of chipping around the bead hole. Again, this is to be expected with old, antique amber. Because this is natural amber, there's variation with its color between each bead with some beads appearing more golden and some having just a hint of cherry. The beads are strung onto a sterling silver chain in a graduated order. The graduation in size is subtle. I've included a photo showing the beads on the ends side by side with the largest center bead so you can see the difference. The beads on the ends measure about 9 X 7 mm, and the largest bead at the center measuring about 10 X 13.5 mm. All the other beads fall in between these two sizes, with the beads shrinking in size as they near the necklace's ends and growing in size as they near the center. In between each of the amber beads are small, amber-colored glass spacer beads. These beads appear to be artisan crafted with slight marbling and swirls. Because the beads are strung on a sterling silver chain, there's less risk of breakage, so this necklace should be fine to wear as it is, without need of restringing. The chain is finished with a sterling silver spring ring clasp. This is an old clasp, so "Sterling" is spelled out on the clasp, as opposed to 925, which wasn't used, or at least not mandated, at the time this necklace was made. This is a vintage item, with heritage to it, that has been worn and enjoyed over the years, but it is absolutely still gorgeous and a lovely heirloom piece to enjoy and one day pass on.  I usually include a photo of the amber fluorescing green beneath UV light, but I can't find my UV flashlight to take a photo. However, this necklace is from my personal collection, which I am downsizing, and I have shown it under UV light many times since I first acquired it, so I can say with 100% certainty that it fluoresces the green shade of natural amber. When I find my light, I'll update the listing with a new photo. The pictures are to be considered as part of the description.
