Description  Stunning Vintage 1990s / Y2K Purple Velvet 3D Floral Appliqué Dress. A truly unusual vintage statement dress featuring a rich deep plum/purple stretch velvet body with sheer floral mesh long sleeves and upper bodice.The highlight of this dress is the spectacular dimensional embroidered floral appliqué cascading from the neckline down the front. The appliqué features raised peach, rust, gold and orange flowers with embroidered green leaves and delicate floral branches, accented with small sparkling embellishments.An especially beautiful construction detail: upon examining the inside of the garment, the dimensional floral appliqué appears to have been individually hand-applied/tacked to the dress using extremely fine clear monofilament thread. The nearly invisible stitching allows the raised floral work to sit beautifully over the velvet without obvious attachment stitches.(see photos of inside out and stitching)Please note: I am describing the appliqué as hand-applied, not hand-embroidered. The appliqué itself appears to have been separately constructed and then carefully attached to the finished garment.The sheer stretch mesh upper bodice and sleeves feature a coordinating oversized floral design in rich burgundy, rust, gold, peach and green tones.
