The purse has a locking mechanism made of metal and has a golden color. The large and deep purse has a very clean interior, which is lined with a brown colored material which feels like shamwa. The interior has two compartments, one with a zipper and the other is a two-pocket compartment. The purse has a metal frame covered with alligator skin on the outside and having a golden metal locking mechanism. The purse has a handle made of alligator skin attached to the frame. The interior of the purse off-white material. Please view photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: Mid 20th Century, probably 1940s-1960s. Origin: Uncertain. Size: ~11" long by 6 1/2" and is about 3" deep when nicely extended. The purse weighs a bit over 1 pound. Maker: Unknown. Marks: Marked on the inside of the handle Genuine Alligator Made in ????? (the last word is impossible to make out). Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Very nice old purse, which would make a great addition to any collection. Condition: The purse is in very good condition. It has no breaks or repairs. It is a bit deformed on the bottom (see photos), but we feel it would take its original shape once it is filled with appropriate material. The only issue we can see is the breaks in the alligator skin all along the inside of the handle (see the last photo) and also some edges of skin lifting off near the locking mechanism. The inside is clean, intact, and retains its original coloring and appearance. The purse is really in great shape given it is over 50 years old.
