Vintage Stanley Bailey No. 5 Type 17 jack plane, dating to the WWII-era production period of approximately 1942–1945. This Type 17 has the characteristic steel depth-adjustment wheel associated with Stanley's wartime production, when brass use was restricted. Marked STANLEY on the lever cap and MADE IN U.S.A. Measures approximately 14½" long, 2½" wide, with a 2" cutter. This plane is being sold as found and unrestored. It shows substantial age-related wear including surface rust/oxidation, finish and japanning loss, scratches, grime, and wear to the wooden knob and tote. The frog screws are rusted in place and have not been forced or removed. We have intentionally left the plane uncleaned rather than risk damaging the original surfaces.
