This EXCEPTIONAL cotton 1830's/1840's indigo blue and white nine patch quilt is all hand pieced and hand quilted, with a sawtooth border. The indigo blue is the very early pale-blue-on-navy indigo. The back is white, the binding is a hand stitched knife edge, and the batting is thin. It measures a generous 100" X 104" and is in excellent, sturdy condition, with the occasional small, inconspicuous spot and no wear.  The hand quilting is superb, with close straight line, vine, berry, grid, cable, and floral designs quilted throughout at an even 8 stitches to the inch. The back is white, the binding is a hand stitched knife edge , and the batting is thin. You can see cotton seed residue inside when you hold the quilt up to the light.
