Ornate cobalt-blue panels with scrolling gold foliage and floral motifs encircle the shoulder, neck and lower portion of the vase. Beautiful vintage Japanese porcelain vase featuring an elaborate peacock and floral design accented with deep cobalt blue and gold gilt decoration. The central scene depicts a colorful peacock surrounded by flowering branches, peonies and other blossoms in soft shades of pink, blue, green and cream. Ornate cobalt-blue panels with scrolling gold foliage and floral motifs encircle the shoulder, neck and lower portion of the vase. A thin gold band finishes the flared rim. The overall decoration is closely associated with the ornate Japanese export porcelain produced during the mid-to-late 20th century. Similar peacock-and-floral designs are found on pieces attributed to Toyo , although this vase is marked only JAPAN and does not retain a Toyo label or maker's mark. It is therefore being offered as maker unknown rather than making a definitive Toyo attribution. A striking decorative piece with a traditional Japanese-inspired design and excellent display presence.
