View Antique 14k Gold Victorian Etruscan Revival Coral Button Bar Brooch with current marketplace pricing, condition, product images and item details. This item is should be of interest to any collector of antique jewelry or to any individual who wears pins, lapel or otherwise, to adorn themselves on special occasions. Offered at auction is an antique gold ladies (or man’s) lapel or blouse pin. It measures approximately 2.25 inches long by 7/16 inches wide and is set with a natural red coral cabochon ( probably Mediterranean in origin) at its center. This pin acid tests as 12 karat yellow gold ( or maybe a bit higher) in several spots except the attachment pin and a tiny silver looking extension that aids the clasp in holding the pin in place when it is worn. I would guess this pin dates to the late 19th or early 20th century and it is made in a somewhat Etruscan revival style and still exhibits some of its original “bloomed gold” surface treatment. The pin weighs approximately 7.25 grams, of which I would estimate 4+ grams are 12k gold. The condition of this little brooch is a bit rough but it still faces up well, is wearable and has a high karat gold look as a result of its “bloomed” gold treated surface.
