This striking condiment set consists of 1 cruet without lid, salt and pepper containers, sugar bowl, spoon and tray. Moriage is a type of raised decoration used on some Japanese pottery. Sometimes pieces of clay were shaped by hand and applied to the item; sometimes the clay was squeezed from a tube in the way we apply cake frosting. The pieces were often unmarked and were known for their highly stylized decorations and gilding. All of these pieces are unmarked, as is usual with moriage decorated china. The cruet is 5" high. The tray is 9 1/4” long from handle to handle and about 6" wide. Condition: Mint, gift-giving condition. No chips, no cracks, no crazing.
