Presented here is a beautiful antique Christening gown or long baby dress. This is made of a 100% fine cotton Batiste or Lawn, lightweight with a natural weave, silky soft. This is made of a 100% fine cotton Batiste or Lawn, lightweight with a natural weave, silky soft. The gown has three pin tuck pleats on each side of the shoulders front and back. A fancy detail stitch goes around the neckline and down the front on each side. It is embellished with hand embroidered flowers cascading down the front with tiny open-work dots. The hem falls in scallops with a dainty fancy scalloped edge which is stitch bound. Closes in the back with four mother-of-pearl buttons. Very finely hand made and finished inside and out, very narrow French seams. Excellent antique condition, clean, sturdy; there is a repair under one arm in the back which is reinforced on the inside (see photo), a very faint light rust near the buttons, nothing that shows.  Fits about a 20 to 24" doll. Measures; 25 1/2" long from shoulder to hem, under arms 26" around, waist 32", sweep at hem 47", shoulders 9 1/2" across from outer edge of pleats (no shoulder seams).
