VICTORIAN FRENCH 2 PIECE VISITING DRESS WITH PARIS LABEL 1890s A 1890s Victorian 2 piece rich deep colored printed silk satin visiting outfit, embellished with velvet on waist, front collar descending to waist and covering buttons on lower sleeves. Skirts lining has a gathered sewn in band with draw string to adjust the bustle effect. This outfit is very wearable and ready for a new collection. Label has faded and cannot make out Mme name, Paris DETAILS: BODICE: • Center opening has front pleats at base of bodice forming a front point with a rich brown colored insert accent the front bodice • Salmon colored cotton lining. • Slight puff to the shoulder sleeves. • Closure is center front with rigid stays. • Back peplum forms at point accented with gathered ruching. SKIRT: • The skirt was made for a bustle, with gathered pleating at back closure. • Skirts lining has a gathered sewn in band with draw string to adjust the bustle effect. • Large brass hook and eye closures at back waist opening. • Fully lined in a salmon colored cotton. • Skirt is heavy with layers of material and lining and strong and durable.
