You can also see the "-" separator but the number cannot be read. This great looking Modernist brooch has a very novel design. The tail is attached to the head. To assemble the dangle brooch, you insert the tail through the hole at the top of the body. img{max-width:100%}   This is a Large Vintage Taxco Two Piece Modernist Cat Sterling Silver Dangle Brooch. This great looking Modernist brooch has a very novel design.  The tail is attached to the head.  To assemble the dangle brooch, you insert the tail through the hole at the top of the body.  The brooch can be worn with the head horizontal and with a "curious cat" tilt to the left for two different looks.  The photos are closeups; the size relative to a US dime and to a ruler, is shown in one of the photos.  The total height of the assembled brooch is 3 1/2" and 2 1/2" wide when work with the head aligned horizontally.  The brooch weighs 22 grams, a bit over 2/3 of a Troy ounce.  The head is solid on the back.  It has a heavy feel so I think it may be solid but I do not know for sure if it is solid or hollow ware.  The body section is hollow / concave on the back as seen.    The back of the head is marked "MEXICO 925".   Above that is the maker's mark conforming to the Mexican government mandated Registration Mark system instituted for post 1979 pieces.  The mark is not well struck.  The two letters appear to be TF and if that is correct, the T indicates the brooch was made in TAXCO.  You can also see the "-" separator but the number cannot be read.  Since the Mexican government does publish their registration lists, the second letter and the number cannot be used to identify a particular artisan, so with this marking system, the only relevant information for a buyer / collector is the first letter indicating the area or region where the piece was made.
