The articulated seven-panel design features beautifully detailed Aztec-inspired mask motifs, ornate repoussé-style scrollwork, and luminous shell inlay that flashes with gorgeous blue, green, pink, and pearly tones as it catches the light. This striking vintage Mexican bracelet is a wonderful example of the bold, handcrafted jewelry coming out of Mexico in the mid-20th century. The articulated seven-panel design features beautifully detailed Aztec-inspired mask motifs, ornate repoussé-style scrollwork, and luminous shell inlay that flashes with gorgeous blue, green, pink, and pearly tones as it catches the light. The combination of dimensional metalwork and iridescent shell gives this bracelet an especially dramatic, artisan-made character. The bracelet is constructed with hinged panels that allow it to comfortably follow the curve of the wrist, with a secure fold-over clasp. The shell inlays have naturally varied coloration and patterning, including areas where the shell’s organic coloration creates spots and markings that can initially look like imperfections; these are part of the natural character of the inlay rather than holes. The shell has a wonderful vintage glow, particularly in natural sunlight. One of the Aztec mask panels is missing its small dangling earrings. This is clearly visible in the photographs and has been taken into consideration in the condition and pricing. The remaining mask details, decorative work, hinges, and shell panels are all present and make this an exceptionally eye-catching vintage bracelet despite that loss.
