Offered for sale are a pair of lovely vintage, mid century peacock form clip on earrings in sterling silver originating from Thailand. These were popular as export tourist jewelry from Thailand in the 40s through the 60s. Although Thailand officially changed its name from Siam in 1939, jewelry, especially nielloware like this, continued to be marked "Siam Sterling" for export as these are through the 60s.  These peacocks are beautifully decorated with niello (a black metal amalgam inlay similar in effect to enamel) and with turquoise and blue enamel for the feather eyes.
