No maker’s mark was found, so the exact maker, country of origin and age are unknown. Wonderful small vintage metal bell with beautifully aged, rustic character. This old bell has a primitive utilitarian appearance with a dark brown naturally weathered patina, simple arched metal handle and an unusual light-colored interior clapper. The bell appears to have been constructed from formed sheet metal with visible seams and hand-worked details, giving it the wonderfully imperfect appearance collectors look for in older agricultural and folk objects. It would make a beautiful addition to a collection of antique and vintage bells or displayed as rustic farmhouse, French country, primitive or Old World décor. No maker’s mark was found, so the exact maker, country of origin and age are unknown. The metal body is irregular in shape and construction, with visible seams and aged areas around the handle attachments. The interior has dark oxidation and surface wear. The light-colored clapper shows considerable discoloration, darkening, cracking/crazing and age-related wear, all shown closely in the photographs. The irregularities and aged surface are part of the bell’s rustic vintage character and have intentionally not been polished or restored.
