Antique Cabinet Card 2 Women Large Hair Bows Lace Victorian Edwardian Photo Description Beautiful original antique mounted photograph featuring two young women posed together, dating to approximately the turn of the 20th century. Both women are fashionably dressed and have wonderfully distinctive period hairstyles accented by large dark hair bows. The woman on the left wears an especially elaborate ensemble with a high collar, lace-trimmed shoulders and bodice, decorative jewelry at her throat, and what appears to be a small floral or ribbon accent at her chest. The woman on the right wears a lighter high-necked dress or blouse with a more restrained but elegant appearance. Their matching oversized hair bows are particularly eye-catching and make this a terrific image for a collector of antique women's fashion, hairstyles, hair accessories, or social history. The photograph itself is presented in an oval opening surrounded by an embossed black decorative frame, all mounted on a larger black textured card. The embossed inner frame has delicate ornamental flourishes in the corners and gives the portrait a striking almost cameo-like presentation. The reverse is plain with no photographer, location, or sitter identification that I can see. The high-necked blouses, elaborate upswept hairstyles and especially the prominent hair bows fit very nicely with late Victorian/early Edwardian women's fashions. The women could certainly be sisters or close relatives, although there is no identification on the card to confirm their relationship.  Condition Good antique condition with expected age-related wear. The image remains clear with very nice facial detail. There is some light surface wear, spotting/soiling and minor wear to the edges and corners of the mount. The black mount has scattered small light-colored marks consistent with age and handling. The reverse shows light age spotting and surface wear but is otherwise unmarked.
