Up for sale is a rare piece of West Coast subcultural history. The Soles: The legendary yellow welt stitching is entirely intact. Vintage late1980s Dr. Martens 7-Eyelet Steel Toe Boots - Made in England - UK 12 / US 13 - Single Owner ( purchased from Daljeet's on the Haight San Francisco ). Listing Description Up for sale is a rare piece of West Coast subcultural history. I am the original, single owner of these authentic, vintage late-1980s Dr. Martens Industrial safety boots. They were purchased brand new at the legendary alternative store Daljeet’s on Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco during the height of the late-80s alternative/punk scene. This is the highly sought-after pair of rare 7-eyelet profile (typically reserved for heavy-duty UK industrial and military contract batches rather than the standard 8-eye fashion lines). They feature a robust, covered internal steel toe cap and the iconic heavy-duty, oil-resistant industrial outsole marked with the distinct vintage molded cross (+). Handcrafted in England (Wollaston, Northamptonshire factory). Size: Stamped 12P on the inside footbed. This is a UK 12, which translates to a US Men’s Size 13. (Please note: Vintage Made-in-England Docs tend to have a slightly slimmer, more structured fit compared to modern, mass-produced pairs). Color & Leather: Black smooth industrial leather—thick, resilient, and built like a tank. Pull-Tab: Classic vintage black pull-tab with yellow embroidered "With Bouncing Soles" script. Condition Report: Uppers: Good vintage condition for their age. The leather is clean and has only been dusted and wiped down with a damp cloth (no thick modern polishes or hiding creams applied). Natural creasing where the foot bends. The leather over the covered steel toe boxes shows a few authentic, minor "character divets" and light scuffs—with slightly more on the right shoe than the left—giving them an honest vintage aesthetic. The Tongues are slightly curled/stiff from age & storage but remain fully pliable and will soften right up with wear. The Soles: The legendary yellow welt stitching is entirely intact. The tread on the ball-of-the-foot area is mostly smoothed flat from natural walking wear, but the rest of the deep, grooved perimeter tread and the central industrial cross (+) mark are solid and evenly worn for the most part. Vintage Safety Stamping: Further forward on the footbed, the original, rare late-1980s British safety standards heat-stamp is present. It features the BS 1870 industrial contract code alongside the iconic British BSI Kitemark (the stylized heart-shaped quality assurance symbol). This absolutely verifies their production era and authentic industrial pedigree. Important Collector's Reference Note regarding the Footbed Stamping: Please note that the original markings further forward on the footbed of this pair are faded from natural walking wear. To assist collectors, the final photo in the listing gallery is a clear reference screenshot of an identical, crisp footbed from a mint pair of the exact same production batch. As illustrated in the reference photo, this pair is the historically significant Model 1888 contract boot, explicitly stamped with the 1988 factory production date and the official BS 1870 Part 1 British BSI Kitemark (the heart-shaped safety symbol). This pristine reference matches the faded contours on my pair exactly, providing 100% verified proof of their 1988 heritage and Daljeet's provenance. These are incredibly rare to find in a size UK 12, especially with verifiable single-owner Haight Street heritage. Ready for a new home to be worn or collected! Please look at all of the pictures. Pictures are of the exact item you'll receive, except for the last picture, which is an example of what the footbed looked like when new. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask before purchase, and thanks for your interest. Condition: Pre-owned.
