The form is built from two domed sterling shells soldered at the rim, with a second smaller heart raised proud of the face so the piece reads as concentric hearts from every angle. Everything is mirror polished, so the double curve does the work — the light wraps round the outer lobe and then breaks again on the inner one. It hangs from a heavy tapered bail wide enough to take a substantial chain or even a leather cord. The reverse carries the Mexican maker's marks "MEXICO", "TU-73" and "925". Large hollow Mexican hearts of this generation were made to be worn as the single piece in an outfit, and that is still how this one works best — on a plain chain over a plain sweater or a black dress.
