This is a classic mid-century modern piece from Viking Glass of New Martinsville, West Virginia, made by hand-swinging the hot glass to stretch it into a tall, graceful form. The vase has a teardrop-shaped weighted base that rises into a slender neck and finishes in a pointed, flame-like lip. The color shifts from deep orange at the base to a pale clear-yellow at the rim, which glows beautifully in window light. The heavy, thick base keeps it stable on a shelf or table.
