The cape closes at the top of the collar with hidden hooks. The cape is lined. There are minor defects that require repair mainly on the bottom wide lace. VICTORIAN STYLE 18-19TH CENTURY: CAPE WITH BEAD EMBROIDERY, LACE BOW TRIM Condition: There are small holes in the main fabric (on the right side near the shoulder - seen in the photo - they were sewn). Brown threads are visible in the beaded pattern on the back (see photo). The bottom layer - the guipure ribbon from the base to the stitching - is critically damaged (requires replacement). Replacing it will not spoil the original appearance (it will not be visible). There are minor defects that require repair, mainly on the wide bottom lace. The guipure fabric is presumably silk. Unfortunately, it is very difficult for items that are more than 100-150 years old to remain in perfect condition. A rare find! Cape-collar VICTORIAN STYLE APPROXIMATELY LATE 18TH EARLY 19TH CENTURY, MADE OF BLACK PLAIN FABRIC with a decorated applique of black beads made by hand with a pattern sewn along the perimeter, the cape along the edge is sewn with a double gathered wide guipure ribbon (the lower guipure ribbon has a defect, there are large tears in the additional transparent fabric that is attached to the second (lower) lace part. The cape-collar around the neck is also trimmed with lace. There are four bows in front. The cape closes at the top of the collar with hidden hooks. The cape is lined.
