About this item In this beautiful poster realized in 1958, Carlu wanted to demonstrate the progress in aviation, that Air France is known for.  Jean Carlu (1900–1997) was a leading French poster artist and graphic designer, recognized for his use of bold geometry, symbolic imagery, and clean modern lines. Originally trained in architecture, he turned to design after losing his right arm in a road accident as a youth. During World War II, he worked in the United States, producing striking patriotic posters for the government. After the war, he returned to France and served as International President of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) between 1945 and 1956.
