First Love was the most popular pattern ever made by IS, even more popular than Vintage Grape. The design is a very delicate Art Deco with smooth classical tailoring. It is a design that wears well, and does not look dated after more than 60 years. Baby sets are designed for babies who need to be fed with both a fork and spoon, and who are working toward holding those utensils in order to begin feeding themselves. These pieces have a short handle and a wide bowl and wide tines. The infant feeding spoon is a long handled spoon used to feed babies. It is not used by the baby; an older person puts food in the bowl and then inserts the bowl in the baby's mouth. The reason for the long handle is to prevent the feeder from being bitten by the baby and to be able to reach all over the baby's face to pick up food that has been spilled. The baby spoon & fork, bent handle baby spoon, and youth set knife, fork and spoon offered here measure respectively about 4 1/8", about 4 1/4" about 3 3 1/4", about 7 1/4", about 6 1/4", and 5 3/4"". These are not pieces of new silver. These items show the patina of as much as 90 years of use by babies and young children. There are the light scratches which constitute normal patina. There is no monogram. Silver is softly lustrous. There is no silver loss except for heel wear and and a bit on the rim of the bowl of the feeding spoon. The pattern is crisp and clear.
