The lid has a slight dent on the lid as shown in the last picture. This is a vintage German salt-glazed stoneware beer stein made by Gerz (often branded as Gerzit), featuring a traditional pewter (zinn) lid and an embossed medieval knight design with the famous German drinking phrase "Ja, so warn's die alten Rittersleut'" ("Yes, that's how the old knights were"). Based on the styling and manufacturer marks typical of this model, it was manufactured in West Germany roughly between the 1960s and 1980s. Measures 6" high to the top of the lid and 5 3/4" wide to the handle. I have left the aged patina on the lid. The lid has a slight dent on the lid as shown in the last picture.
