Vintage Mid-Century Murano Glass Clown Vase – Hand-Blown Italian Art Glass – Multicolor – Rare & Whimsical Absolutely fantastic vintage Murano glass clown vase, believed to date to the mid-20th century, circa 1950s–1960s. This is an exceptionally colorful and unusual example of Italian art glass. The clown is formed around a hollow, trumpet-shaped vase with a spectacular multicolor glass body featuring vivid yellow, orange, red, blue, green, and other colors. The piece has numerous separately applied glass elements, including the large white collar, oversized white hands, central white decorative detail, and substantial black glass feet. The craftsmanship is unmistakably that of a hand-blown art glass piece, with extensive internal bubbles, color variation, and other characteristics associated with individually crafted glass. The underside has a large pontil mark, further supporting its hand-blown construction. Similar mid-century Murano clown sculptures and clown-vase forms are documented from the 1950s through the 1970s, including examples with multicolored bodies, oversized applied white elements, and black glass feet.
