The fantastical orange peel spiraling around the mischievous red-clad figure became an instantly recognizable symbol of Campari and helped define the modern advertising poster.  This example is the formal 1950 second edition, the first postwar edition, printed by Officine Grafiche Ricordi Milano and bearing the authorization date of May 20, 1950. This is an original 2nd Edition, full-size Linen backed poster in an excellent condition, professionally preserved and ready for display. 🟦 THE ARTIST Leonetto Cappiello (1875 - 1942) was an Italian-born French illustrator and one of the pioneers of modern advertising poster design. His revolutionary use of simplified figures, vivid colors and dark backgrounds created images designed to be recognized instantly from a distance.
