Excellent collector condition overall for its age. Exceptional vintage sterling silver clamper bracelet by Alfredo Villasana of Taxco, Mexico. A hand wrought swirl and scroll design that wraps fully around the piece, carrying detail through to the clamp ends rather than concentrating it on a single focal point. Marks: AV cartouche, TAXCO, HECHO EN MEXICO, STERLING 925 Fit: Rigid hinged clamper, fits a 6.5" wrist closed, opens to approx 7.5" with gap. Width 2.14" at widest point, 0.76" at hinge.  Weight: 56.39g Villasana trained under William Spratling and later Hector Aguilar before opening his own Taxco workshop in the mid-1940s and is regarded as one of the finest silversmiths of the era. This piece carries his own signed AV cartouche mark notably without an eagle assay number. Mexico's eagle mark system became mandatory in 1948, so a piece marked without one predates that requirement, placing this bracelet within Villasana's early independent period. Condition: Original patina left intact. Scratches consistent with vintage wear and use as shown in photographs and video. The internal hinge spring is a non-sterling component (as is typical in vintage clamper construction) and shows visible discoloration - not uncommon for decades-old hinge mechanisms but disclosed here for transparency. The silver body itself is unaffected. Excellent collector condition overall for its age.  A note on metal purity: this piece is stamped STERLING 925, consistent with its maker's mark. Vintage jewelry, often tested by touchstone or acid methods at the time of manufacture, can show minor variance from the original stamp when measured against modern precision testing such as XRF.
