The square head is marked “HARDENED” and has noticeable paint loss and surface wear from age and use. Vintage combination square featuring a Lufkin Rule Co. ruler, marked Saginaw, Mich. Made in U.S.A. The ruler is also marked No. 4 Grad and has multiple measurement graduations, including 32nds, 64ths, and 8ths. The square head is marked “HARDENED” and has noticeable paint loss and surface wear from age and use. Please note that I cannot confirm that the square head and ruler were originally manufactured together, so the identification and information provided are based on the markings visible on the item and my best research. I removed the adjustable head, cleaned the pieces in warm, soapy water, dried them completely, and then applied a light coating of WD-40. I reassembled the head afterward, and the adjustment/locking mechanism appears to function as intended. This is a well-used vintage tool and shows age-related wear, including scratches, discoloration, surface oxidation/rust spotting, paint loss, and other signs of previous use.
