Both are individually bezel set within an elaborate sculptural silver design. Likely Diné / Navajo, or Zuni. Wonderful vintage Native American sterling silver statement ring, purchased by my mother in the mid-1970s and retained by our family since. This unusual handmade ring features two contrasting stones: a vivid red-orange coral cabochon at the top and an irregular natural turquoise cabochon with prominent brown matrix at the bottom. Both are individually bezel set within an elaborate sculptural silver design. The face is decorated with extensive hand-worked silver elements, including applied leaves, floral details, silver drops and stamped/textured decoration. Particularly interesting is the construction of the ring itself: the large elongated face is supported by a split multi-wire/shank design, clearly visible in the side and reverse photographs. The handmade character and tool marks are readily apparent from the back. Provenance: My mother purchased this ring in the mid-1970s through a coworker whose wife regularly traveled home to her Native American reservation in Arizona on weekends and brought jewelry back with her for sale. The specific reservation, individual silversmith and tribal affiliation unfortunately were not recorded and are no longer known. The ring has remained in our family since its original purchase. The ring is unsigned, and no specific artist or tribal attribution is being made. The silver retains a substantial natural vintage patina and has not been polished, preserving the character it has developed over approximately 50 years.
