Early20th Century A Hopi Wicker Tray, also known as a Hopi wicker plaque or basketry plaque, is a traditional Native American artifact created by the Hopi people, an indigenous group residing primarily on the Hopi Reservation in northeastern Arizona. These trays are shallow, flat-woven baskets made using a wicker (twined) weaving technique, distinguishing them from coiled baskets produced on other Hopi mesas. They are renowned for their intricate designs, vibrant colors, and cultural significance, often featuring symbolic motifs inspired by Hopi cosmology, nature, and ceremonies.
