We have a gorgeous pair of hand painted Sèvres urns that were created right around 1880! They each picture a different scene with a courting couple in a very soft, cool pallette. Each vase is signed by the artist on the lower right side of the front image "A Hété", who was a well known painter for premier Sèvres works c. Roughly 1885-1905. One of the lovely pieces remaining in our family from my great grandmother that I am helping my great aunt find a new home for! We have a gorgeous pair of hand painted Sèvres urns that were created right around 1880! They each picture a different scene with a courting couple in a very soft, cool pallette. The handles are intricately carved porcelain in a Louis XIV style and encrusted in gold with further embossed gold gilt scrolling throughout every border. The verso images are stone castles or churches across a body of water within the same palette. Both images are framed in lovely blooming wildflowers. Each vase is signed by the artist on the lower right side of the front image "A Hété", who was a well known painter for premier Sèvres works c. Roughly 1885-1905. The style of this vase is consistent with European pieces from the end of the Aesthetic movement, the way it combines Rococo style handles with Victorian imagery can date these to 1885-1895, the quality of scrolling and paste makes me think the first half of that window.  Each piece is set in ormolu mounts bearing the mark "ML" from the fondeur who is escaping me currently. Each urn measures 18" tall, and the ormolu base mounts have a 5" length on each side. I noticed no damage in my inspection of these pieces, though there is some crazing, and have not cleaned them to any capacity.
