The box is a great example of mid-century lacquerware from Japan. The lid of the box is decorated with a gold and yellow bamboo pattern. The box and lid connect perfectly; there is no warping on either. VINTAGE Oval Black Lacquered Box w/ Gold Bamboo Decorative Pattern - Japan MCM This is a BEAUTIFUL VINTAGE black oval Japanese lacquerware box from the 1960s.  The box is a great example of mid-century lacquerware from Japan.  The lid of the box is decorated with a gold and yellow bamboo pattern.  The box and lid connect perfectly; there is no warping on either.  This box is 5.5 inches long, 4 inches wide and 1.75 inches tall.  There is a small blue sticker on the bottom that says "Made in Japan."  It is in VERY GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION!  There are no chips, cracks, discoloration, or warping.  There are 5 small nicks on the lid (see last photo).
