This is a Bizen ware sake cup made by Tadashi Yoshimoto, a holder of an Important Intangible Cultural Property of Okayama Prefecture. In 1997, his work was exhibited at the "Bizen Ware: A Thousand Years of Traditional Beauty" exhibition (Bizen Ware Paris Exhibition) held at the National Museum of Ceramics in France. [Product condition] The burnt area around the rim has peeled off slightly (Images 17 and 18). size: Diameter 2.8 inch Height 2.0 inch Foot diameter 1.3 inch [Yoshimoto Tadashi] Born in Shizutani, Bizen City in 1943. At the age of 18, he began working as a live-in assistant at the home of Living National Treasure Fujiwara Kei, and was drawn to his teacher's encouragement and personality, and in 1964 he began his career in pottery as Kei's only apprentice. Since then, he devoted himself to honing his pottery skills for 19 years until Kei's death in 1983. He inherits the "simple and clear" approach to pottery making of "Kei Bizen." In 1975, with Kei's advice, he built a kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, and became independent. In the same year, he exhibited at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition and was selected for the first time. In 1986, he became a full member of the Japan Crafts Council. In 1997, his work was exhibited at the "Bizen Ware: A Thousand Years of Traditional Beauty" exhibition (Bizen Ware Paris Exhibition) held at the National Museum of Ceramics in France. In 2007, he was recognized as a holder of an Important Intangible Cultural Property by Okayama Prefecture.
