Sphinx received the royal predicate in 1960, thus becoming Royal Sphinx, but shut down in 1969, so this plate was produced 1960-1969. As are all such pieces, this is a transfer appliqué.  Petrus Regout, the founder of Sphinx, a Maastricht company, always accurately marked his art "Delfts" w/an s, indicating Delft-style."
