The photo is of three children, possibly brothers. There are two toddlers sitting in the foreground and an older child standing behind them. The photo is obviously staged in a studio with a tree in the background. The image comes in a paper envelop with an oval opening where the photo can be seen. The paper mat has a red colored line frame around the oval opening and all around the edge. It would appear that at one time there was a flap that would have covered the image, but it is long gone. The back of the tin type is lacquered and is dark in color. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: Uncertain, but most likely mid to late 1800s. Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Size: The photo measures ~2 3/8" by ~3 3/8". Photographer: Unknown. Marks: Unmarked as to the photographer. Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Truly a nice antique photo having an interesting subject. Condition: The photo in very good condition with no damage to the tin. It is clean with no soiling or stains. The photo has some minor losses at the edges and some roughness of the lacquering on the front. The back shows losses and roughness of the lacquering. The tin plate has a light bend at the bottom right corner. The paper matting has some soiling, minor tears and some losses, but is still intact and in one piece. Just a great looking antique photo worthy of a spot in your old photo collection.
