There are no remaining paper labels or aid-etched signatures. For consideration is this spectacular, large-scale authentic Murano art glass butterfly sculpture. While most Venetian glass butterflies are small 3" to 4" miniatures, this substantial centerpiece measures an impressive 8 1/4" wide by 7 1/2" tall, making it a rare and highly commanding display piece for serious art glass collectors.  This piece features a masterclass combination of traditional Murano techniques. The sweeping wings are beautifully adorned with vibrant, multicolored mosaic millefiori cane patterns in bold rings of cobalt blue, striking red, emerald green, and stalk white. The segmented body and wing accents are richly embedded with shimmering flakes of authentic aventurine gold leaf, giving the sculpture a captivating glitter under direct light. The borders of the wings are hand-crimped and sculped with flawless precision.  The glass is in excellent vintage condition with no post-production chips, fractures, flea bites, or cracks. The colors remain intensely vivid, and the gold leaf is highly brilliant.  In accordance with fine hand-blown Venetian craftsmanship, the underside features a completely authentic, unpolished, and raw pontil scar where the sculpture was broken off the glassmaker's iron rod. The millefiori elements partially overlap this area, serving as textbook physical proof of its hot-worked, non-molded, handmade origin.
