If you have never met a bone dish, this is the object that explains an entire vanished way of eating. It sat to the left of your plate at a formal Victorian or Edwardian table and it existed for one purpose: somewhere to put fish bones and chop bones without putting them back on the plate you were still eating from. Gilt edge is worn thin along the outer curve. Backstamp is crisp and fully legible. Light utensil marks in the well.
